Often, long after acne itself has subsided, unsightly scars can remain. Now there is a way to erase remnants of the past and reclaim self-confidence. Acne surgery does this with a multi-step process. First, the patient prepares their skin with a Retin-A compound, hydroquinone, or alpha-hydroxy acid on a daily for 6 weeks to 2 months. Once the surgeon feels the skin is ready, chemical peels, laser, microdermabrasion or scar revision surgery will be recommended.
